About us

We Build Confidence

IN PARENTS AND CHILDREN
The goal of Number Doctors is to strengthen the home-school links for Primary School Children in Mathematics.  We currently work closely with teachers through our Professional Development business Simply Maths, however we are acutely aware of the important role parents can play in supporting their child's mathematical development.

So many parents have expressed to us their feelings of helplessness when working with their children at home in Maths  They often comment "I can help with reading, but I have no idea what to do with Maths".  Number Doctors is specifically designed to help these parents and aims to improve the quality of Mathematics Education provided to all students.

Dr Bern Long

My Name is Bern Long. I have taught for over 20 years holding various leadership positions including Vice Principal. In the past ten years I have worked part-time in a Primary School as a Mathematics Leader. During this time, I have also worked as a mathematics consultant, completed sessional teaching with pre-service teachers and been a mathematics coach. In 2017 I completed my PhD in Mathematics Education through Monash University. My research involved developing a numeracy intervention program based around growth mindset, problem solving and mental computation. I am very passionate to help students develop a love of mathematics.

Dr Ange Rogers

My name is Ange Rogers. Fifteen years ago I started my career as a Primary School Teacher. I enjoyed every moment I spent working in classrooms with students, but I particularly loved teaching mathematics. While on maternity leave with my first daughter I decided to complete a PhD in Mathematics Education. In 2014 I completed my PhD and since then I have taken up a part-time position as a University Lecturer for pre-service teachers at RMIT University. I LOVE teaching and researching mathematics and I am very passionate about improving the teaching and learning of mathematics in Australia.

The way we teach Maths in schools has changed- it is very important parents know how and why these changes have occurred so they can support their children's learning
